Frequently Asked Questions

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
BASICS
☀︎ What kind of game is Prae Mortem?

Prae Mortem is a game very, very loosely based on the video game The Forgotten City. Only a few things are taken from the game, so no prior knowledge of The Forgotten City's plot or setting is needed to enjoy the game.

The game setting and events will be directly affected by characters in the game, their past, and actions they take while in the game. There will be elements of exploration, adventure, horror, and various other genres as a result. Most events will be there to challenge characters in some way, however, there will be lighter events sprinkled in to give both players and characters a chance to breathe.

☀︎ Does anyone come to greet characters?

Yes. The High Priestess can be found outside the bathhouse whenever someone new arrives. She doesn't stay to chat for long, but she will answer basic questions about the city.

☀︎ Can I App a dropped character?

Yes, you can! However, if you're playing a character that was dropped previously, their arrival will differ slightly. Instead of arriving in the bathhouse, characters will come to as one of the golden statues. The exact process of how they turn from statue to person can range from the gold flaking/melting away to the gold slowly turning back to flesh. Feel free to get creative with it!

They get all the same items, which will be located near their feet, though the High Priestess won't come to find them. The specifics of their arrival, such as where they arrive or other notes, will be provided on acceptance.

Optional: While characters won't remember their previous stay (unless you played them before), you can have them feel a sense of Deja Vu/familiarity with the setting and other characters. How intense this feeling is is up to you.

Not at this time, though this can change once characters identify what's blocking their abilities.

ANSWER

☀︎ Is there housing?

Yes! Most of the residential district is in a sorry state, but there are a series of buildings that have been haphazardly repaired. While not much to look at on the outside, the insides are serviceable, have functioning plumbing, and are simply furnished.

Characters are assigned to one of these houses on arrival. Each house has five bedrooms, a kitchen, and a communal living space.
